Richard Douglas Lane dealt, collected, and curated Asian art from the 1950s to 2000s. His collection contained approx. 11,000 Japanese woodblock-printed books and manuscripts, over 9,000 other works of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean origin, and many more various types of Asian works.
These pieces of original Japanese Art were deaquisitionsed from the Honolulu Museum of Art. Each piece was created between Ca. 1700 - Early 1900 and collected by Richard Lane after he move to Japan in 1957. During this period, Land became a scholar in Japanese Art, Saikaku?s Poetry, and Edo Period Art.
