RARE. large 1853 framed pendent application (£5 paid) for an invention, stated as ”an improved Bath for heating and Distilling” for a Frederick Albert Gatty of Accrington Please note - Frederick Albert Gatty (1819–1888) was a 19th-century textile industrialist and chemical innovator from Alsace, France. He moved to Accrington, Lancashire, invited by industrialist Frederick Steiner, to revolutionize calico printing and dyeing. Gatty is most famous for inventing mineral khaki dye and perfecting color-fast Turkey red dye.
