HAPPY MONDAYS: FACTORY MIX MASTERS (LAZYITIS & MAD CYRIL) A rare and historically important Factory Records studio master tape, containing multiple mix versions and edit sections of two of Happy Mondays’ most iconic tracks: Lazyitis and Mad Cyril. Recorded on Fuji H321E Betacam 20, this tape represents authentic pre‑release production material from Factory’s studio workflow. Contents The tape contains four distinct studio masters: Lazyitis – 0:30 A short-form master, likely a promo clip, rough mix, or production element. Mad Cyril – 5:00 A full-length mix master of one of the band’s most defining tracks. Mad Cyril – Bitz Edit Section – 9:40 A long-form edit section, potentially containing alternate sequences, extended mixes, or unused production elements. Mad Cyril – 7” New Moon (7.7.89) – 13:00 A studio master of the 7” version, dated 7 July 1989, offering insight into Factory’s pre‑release workflow. Significance Factory Records studio masters rarely survive, and multi‑version tapes of key Happy Mondays tracks are exceptionally scarce. This tape provides unique insight into Factory’s editing and mixing process, including alternate edits, extended sequences, and production variations not present in commercial releases. Provenance Acquired directly from Kathy Skelly, partner of Mark Simmons, who handled Factory Records video production assets. This provenance places the tape firmly within the original Factory studio chain.
