An Assortment of Mid-20th Century British Regional and Studio Pottery - An assortment of ceramic items, primarily earthenware and stoneware, reflecting mid-20th-century British regional and studio pottery traditions. A prominent group within the collection features a distinctive greyish-purple matte glaze decorated with stylized heron or crane motifs and foliage, including a circular plate, a lidded preserve pot, a small cream jug, and several saucers, in the style of Cinqué Port Pottery. The collection also contains examples of Torquay-style motto ware, including a ceramic toast rack inscribed Fresh from the dairy and a small bowl inscribed To Lily, both featuring hand-painted floral sprigs. Other notable pieces include a cream-coloured jug with a hand-painted black cockerel, a small mustard-yellow glazed jug, a light blue circular flower frog with multiple apertures, and a two-handled pot with slip-trailed landscape decoration. Various smaller bowls and dishes are present, finished in a range of mottled, matte, and glossy glazes using techniques such as sgraffito and slip-trailing.
