Bidspirit auction | Two English Provincial Antique Wooden

Two English Provincial Antique Wooden Side Chairs - A lot comprising two disparate antique wooden side chairs of English provincial style. The first is a spindle-back side chair dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, constructed from stained hardwood with a mahogany-coloured finish. It features a shaped top rail with small scrolled finials over five central spindles and two outer uprights. The seat is padded and upholstered in a light-coloured floral damask fabric, finished with a matching gimp trim. The chair stands on turned front legs and slightly raked rear legs. The second chair is a Victorian English station or penny style side chair, dating to the 19th century. It features a solid elm saddle seat with characteristic prominent wavy grain, while the spindles and legs are likely ash or beech. The back is formed of a wide, curved, flat top rail over four turned spindles. The chair is supported by turned legs joined by simple stretchers.
