A Group of Victorian and Edwardian Two-Tone Salt-Glazed Stoneware Spirit Jugs - A group of salt-glazed stoneware spirit jugs of various sizes and profiles. Each jug features a traditional two-tone salt glaze, with a ferruginous brown wash on the upper shoulders and necks over a light cream or buff-coloured body. The vessels are constructed with narrow necks and integral loop handles. The largest jug bears an impressed merchant mark to the shoulder for WYLD & CO, Bridge Street, Bristol, beneath the numerals 188. One smaller cylindrical jug retains a cork stopper. These items are typical of 19th and early 20th-century British stoneware production, often commissioned for wine and spirit merchants.
