The item features a pull-off cover with intricate geometric and foliate piercing, surmounted by a turned finial. The faceted body tapers down to a stepped octagonal pedestal base. Hallmarks to the body include the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for Birmingham, the date letter v for 1945, and the maker mark E.V for Edward Viner (Viners Ltd).
