Arthur Wood Sports Series Tankard with Figural Motorcyclist Handle Signed Roger Bradwell - An English glazed ceramic tankard from the Sports Series by Arthur Wood. The vessel features a cream-coloured cylindrical body with a flared foot and a beaded moulding above the base. It is distinguished by a three-dimensional figural handle modelled in the form of a motorcyclist in a racing crouch, finished in yellow and brown glazes. The body is decorated with two transfer-printed vignettes depicting vintage motorcycle racing; one scene shows a rider on a red motorcycle with a yellow number 1 plate, while the other depicts a rider with a number 4 plate. The top rim and flared foot are decorated with a copper-coloured lustre glaze. The underside features a black printed mark comprising the text SPORTS SERIES above a cursive signature reading Roger Bradwell. Below the signature is a globe-shaped device with a central banner containing the name ARTHUR WOOD. The globe is flanked by the words QUALITY and ENGLAND, with MADE IN ENGLAND printed at the base of the mark. A small, dark, irregular mark is also present on the base, which appears to be a kiln-related inclusion.
