An Este for Thomas Goode Italian Ceramic Rectangular Tray Featuring a Smooth Fox Terrier - An Italian glazed earthenware rectangular tray produced by Este for the retailer Thomas Goode of London. The tray features a shallow rectangular form with a deep black glazed interior and a wide, sloped rim finished in an ochre-brown glaze. The centre is decorated with a hand-painted depiction of a Smooth Fox Terrier standing in profile on a patch of green grass. The dog is rendered with a white coat, tan markings on its head, and a black patch on its back, wearing a simple brown collar. The base of the piece bears several marks printed in black: the phrases MADE IN ITALY and for THOMAS GOODE appear above a circular factory mark containing a three-towered castle symbol and the word ESTE. A small white adhesive label is present in one corner of the base with the handwritten number 2257.
