A Stratton Enamel and Gold-Tone Metal Cigarette Case Depicting Swans - This British-made Stratton cigarette case is constructed from gold-tone metal with a rectangular form and scalloped edges. The lid is inset with an enamel panel featuring a scene of two white swans swimming amongst green reeds. The motif is set against a translucent royal blue enamel ground, which reveals an underlying radiating engine-turned pattern. The metal frame is decorated with a linear engine-turned border. The interior of the case is finished with a vertical linear engine-turned pattern and contains a spring-loaded, pierced metal retaining bar. This bar is stamped with the maker's name Stratton in a stylized script, alongside REGD DESIGN, PATENT 861144, and MADE IN ENGLAND. The case is secured with a hinged opening and a push-button clasp.
