A Sancai glazed ceramic horse figurine - A ceramic horse figurine modelled in a standing pose upon a rectangular plinth. The piece features a traditional sancai three-colour lead-based glaze, with vibrant amber, emerald green, and off-white glazes applied with characteristic drip and run-off effects. The horse is depicted with a cropped mane and a docked tail, both finished in a cream glaze. The elaborate harness trappings include applied moulded circular floral medallions finished in green glaze. The saddle and saddlecloth are decorated with intermingling green and amber glazes. An impressed rectangular mark is located on the upper surface of the base between the horse's legs; however, the two characters within are not legible due to the density of the dark glaze. This item is a modern decorative interpretation of classic Chinese Tang Dynasty tomb figures.
