Bidspirit auction | A Set of Japanese Rantai
A Set of Japanese Rantai Lacquer and Inlaid Wood Tablewares - A set of wooden tablewares comprising multiple chopsticks, rests, and small bowls. The collection includes a group of dark wood chopsticks with squared pommels featuring light-coloured wood inlays, secured by orange elasticated ties. A coordinating set of bow-tie shaped chopstick rests is included, crafted from dark wood with two vertical light wood decorative inlays. There are three small, shallow turned wooden dipping bowls with a dark finish and visible natural grain. The set further contains two pairs of red Rantai-style chopsticks, characterised by a textured finish mimicking woven basketry. One pair is housed in a decorative paper sleeve with a floral pattern, secured by a pink paper band. This band is printed with four vertical black characters: 藍, 胎, 漆, and 箸, which translate to Rantai (basketry-body) lacquer chopsticks. Additionally, there are two black chopsticks, one loose and one in a plastic sleeve, featuring a blue decorative band at the top with white crane and floral motifs. A white plastic hinged training aid for chopstick use is also present. A small white rectangular adhesive label is attached to the main plastic packaging, bearing the handwritten number 7 in black ink.
