Coalport Fine Bone China The Umbrella House Cottage Ornament - An English fine bone china cottage ornament titled The Umbrella House. The piece features a white glazed porcelain body with a conical, ribbed roof designed to resemble an open umbrella, topped with a central chimney finished with a gilt band. The roofline and chimney base are decorated with encrusted green moss-like bocage. The front of the house features a large arched open doorway and four windows (two rectangular and two arched) outlined in brown-gold pigment. The house sits on a circular white base with a gilt rim, decorated with further green bocage and four hand-applied polychrome porcelain flowers in pink, blue, and yellow. The underside of the base bears hand-painted markings in blue script reading: ”The Umbrella House” / by / Coalport / Fine Bone China / Made in England. C. (photo 2). A small brown character or symbol is present below the script. An impressed number reading 1964 is located near the lower edge of the base (photo 2).
