A 9 ct Gold HM Birmingham Shell Cameo Brooch Dated 1920 Weight: 10.00 g - A hand-carved shell cameo brooch featuring a classical profile portrait of a woman in relief. The carving is executed in a conch shell, displaying a white figure set against a peach-coloured ground. The subject is depicted with wavy hair arranged in a bun with loose curls. The cameo is mounted in a yellow metal oval frame featuring a rope-twist border and a polished outer bezel. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin and a C-clasp, accompanied by a safety chain terminating in a small safety pin. The side of the bezel bears a series of impressed marks. A maker's mark is embossed in a rectangular punch reading B.W.&Co. To the right of this are four British hallmarks in individual punches: an uppercase letter B, an anchor symbol, a lion passant, and a lowercase letter v in a shaped shield.  Weight: 10.00 g.
