A Collection of British George VI Bronze Halfpennies in a Mackintoshs Quality Street Tin - A large collection of British pre-decimal bronze halfpennies. The coins feature the reverse design of the Golden Hind sailing ship and the obverse portrait of King George VI, with the circumscription GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:. The coins are primarily from the 1940s. The collection is housed in a circular lithographed tinplate container. The lid features a purple cartouche containing the printed text Mackintosh's Quality Street and TOFFEES & CHOCOLATES, decorated with Regency-style figures. A white adhesive label on the lid bears the handwritten text 2640 gm, and a smaller paper fragment is marked with a handwritten G. A separate handwritten note accompanying the lot reads 1940's halfpenny. Weight: 2640 g.
