Victorian mahogany and marble-top washstand with tiled splashback - A late Victorian mahogany washstand featuring a rectangular white marble top with a square edge and grey veining. The piece is fitted with a high mahogany splashback inset with seven ceramic tiles, each decorated with a blue and white floral transfer-ware design. The frieze contains two side-by-side drawers, each retaining its original ornate metal swing handles on decorative backplates. The stand is supported on four ring-turned legs that terminate in small feet, joined by a low mahogany stretcher shelf with a moulded edge. The mahogany components exhibit a dark, rich grain throughout.
