A Collection of British Treasury and Bank of England One Pound Banknotes - A comprehensive collection of British one-pound banknotes spanning the early 20th century to the 1980s, presented in protective plastic sleeves. The assembly begins with early Treasury notes featuring the portrait of King George V. These include issues with printed signatures for John Bradbury and N. K. Warren Fisher. A printed white label on the left identifies these as Early Treasury Pounds and provides historical context regarding their introduction in August 1914. The collection continues with several series of Bank of England notes. Visible examples include Series C ”Portrait” notes featuring a young Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and a Britannia vignette on the reverse, with printed signatures of Chief Cashiers J. Q. Hollom and J. S. Fforde. Later Series D ”Pictorial” notes are present, featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and Sir Isaac Newton on the reverse, with printed signatures for J. B. Page and D. H. F. Somerset. Several notes are accompanied by typed and handwritten descriptive slips. One blue-green note is identified by a handwritten slip as a Replacement Note with prefix M and signature of J. Q. Hollom. Another note, serial number S14M 840611, is also identified by a handwritten blue ink label as a Replacement Note. A further handwritten slip identifies a Somerset signature note as the last series of one-pound notes. Other visible serial numbers include 34M 728971, X59C 715902, B48N 523611, and DX28 407815. The notes are printed in various hues of green, brown, and blue-green.
