Bidspirit auction | Victorian Needlepoint Floral Fender Stool

Victorian Needlepoint Floral Fender Stool Cover - A long Victorian needlepoint panel, worked in wool on canvas and traditionally used as a fender stool or hearth stool cover. The textile features a repeating floral garland pattern across a pale neutral field. The motifs include clusters of light blue and grey forget-me-nots, pink and purple roses, and varied green foliage, all worked in a combination of petit point and gros point stitches. The central design is bordered at the top and bottom by a continuous foliate scrollwork band in shades of brown, gold, and purple. The right-hand extremity shows a dark turned wooden foot and frame section, indicating the textile remains attached to its original furniture structure. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible on the textile or the exposed section of the frame.
