Bidspirit auction | Two vintage cast metal table

Two vintage cast metal table lighters in the form of knights in armour - This lot features two vintage novelty table lighters fashioned as knights in full plate armour. The larger figure is cast in a dark grey metal, likely spelter, and depicts a knight wearing a surcoat and a closed helmet, standing with hands rested upon a sword hilt. The helmet is hinged at the neck and opens to reveal a cylindrical petrol lighter mechanism with a cap. The smaller figure is more intricately detailed, featuring a bright, brass-toned finish on a white metal base. This second figure is depicted in ornate, engraved plate armour with a pointed visor. The helmet opens to show a flint-and-wick lighter mechanism. This smaller figure is mounted upon a separate, hexagonal cream-coloured marble or alabaster plinth. Both items follow the traditional standing knight form popular in mid-twentieth-century tobacciana. No maker's marks, signatures, or country of origin marks are visible on the exterior or the bases of either piece.
