Saura Type HB-65 Hand Bearing Marine Compass in Fitted Wooden Case - A liquid-damped hand-bearing marine compass manufactured by Saura. The instrument is constructed with a black-finished circular metal housing and a clear viewing window. It is equipped with a functional sighting mechanism and prism for taking magnetic bearings. The compass card features a 360-degree scale and cardinal points, showing an aged cream tone. An adhesive red and black label on the side of the wooden case features a logo of a stylized S over a cross and reads SAURA HAND BEARING COMPASS TYPE HB-65. The compass is housed within a custom-fitted hardwood box, possibly mahogany, featuring finger-jointed corners and a chrome-plated latch. The interior of the case is lined with fitted white expanded polystyrene foam. A leather carrying strap is attached to the exterior of the wooden case.
