A Pair of Antique Japanned Tinplate Victoria Document Boxes - A pair of antique deed or dispatch boxes constructed from black japanned tinplate with brass hardware. Each box features a rectangular form with a hinged lid, a top-mounted brass swing handle, and a front-facing key lock mechanism. The boxes are decorated with gilt pinstriping and borders. The larger box bears the name VICTORIA in gilt serif lettering across the front face (photo 3). The interiors are finished in a black lacquer coating and consist of single open compartments. The boxes show traditional Victorian-era metalwork construction with folded seams and heavy-duty brass fittings.
