English ‘Davenport’ writing desk in walnut, UK, 19th century. With four drawers at the side, locking inkwell at the top and folding top with key lock.
with key lock. This type is known as the ‘Davenport’ because it was a captain with that surname who first ordered this piece of furniture from Gillows of Lancaster in the late 18th century.
