About the artist Anatoly (Tanakhum) Levovich Kaplan (1902-1980) was a Russian painter, sculptor and printer whose works often reflect his Jewish origins. Lives in Leningrad. From 1937-1940 he worked in an experimental lithographic studio of the Leningrad branch of the Artists' Association (Rosh Warsky). From 1950 to 1951 he worked as the chief artist of the glass factory of Leningrad.Anatoly Kaplan's work throughout his life was closely linked to Jewish folklore and Yiddish literature, he created illustrations for the works of several Jewish authors, including classics of Jewish literature, as well as Jewish folk songs. General condition: A damaged outer cardboard binding, water stains and folds on most lithographs, tear in one of the lithographs.
