Travel Poster Fly Aquila Airlines Madeira Flying Boat. Original vintage travel poster - Fly Aquila To Madeira Return fare by flying boat now only £54 - featuring a lady carrying a basket of flowers on her head and looking at the viewer, a flying plane on the blue sky in the background, the stylised lettering in black text framing the image on coloured banners above, below and down the left side. Madeira island is an autonomous region of Portugal located in the North Atlantic Ocean (Macaronesia). The British flying boat airline company Aquila Airways (1948-1958) operated passenger and freight services including popular holiday flights to Madeira and the Canary Islands; their planes took part in supply missions during the Berlin Airlift (1948-1949) and evacuation services during the Suez Crisis (1956). Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, staining, backed on linen. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 100x62, year of printing: 1950s.
