A COPPER PLATE ENGRAVING BY F.L. NORDEN CA 1755
The engraving is divided into two parts with two different views of the ruins of Karnak. Numbered top right with C. With handwritten pencil marks below. Frederic Louis Norden (1708-1742) traveled through Egypt in 1737-1738 at the request of the Danish king Christian VI. Norden took many notes and made drawings of everything that surrounded him, including people, monuments of the pharaohs, architecture, maps. All this was published in the posthumous "Travels in Egypt and Nubia". The work of Frederick Norden is one of the first attempts to fully investigate Egyptian culture and architecture.
