AN ANTIQUE SILVER JEWELRY BOX DIAMOND AND PEARL
Antique English William Frederick Wright sterling silver oval jewelry box with 19th-century elements of guilloche enamel and rose-cut diamonds. Originally commissioned as a mourning piece from the Georgian period by the silversmith, William Frederick Smith, custom made the box, the exterior of which is cobalt blue guilloche enamel, surrounded by pearls (some of which have been replaced with faux pearls) in a handwrought gold setting (tested for 10K), the center illustrates the letter M in rose-cut diamonds, the interior reveals the remnant of a sepia painted mourning tree on the rim of the concave glass, which is surrounded by white and cobalt blue enamel. The interior is featuring a portrait of King Charles I of England. All hallmarks and assay inside. Total weight: 102 g.
