OVAL MINIATURE PAINTING AFTER THOMAS GAINSBOROUGH
An antique Rococo style oval miniature painting on plaque, Portrait of Georgina Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, after the original painting by Thomas Gainsborough, British, 1727 to 1788. Inscribed, Gainsborough, lower right. Circa: late 19th century. Framed. A hanging loop on the top. Thomas Gainsborough was an English portrait and landscape painter, draughtsman, and printmaker. Along with his rival Sir Joshua Reynolds, he is considered one of the most important British artists of the second half of the 18th century. One of a kind artwork.
