RUSSIAN 84 SILVER GILT ENAMEL ICON MOTHER OF GOD
A fine Russian Othodox icon painted in oil on a wood panel, depicting Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus Christ. Housed in a solid silver gilt riza or oklad decorated with hand engravings and cloisonne enamel in various shades of blue. Hallmarks: 84 silver standard, George the Victorious for Moscow, an assay mark under the date 1861, makers mark JM. Russian Orthodox Icons, Spiritual And Religious Antiques And Collectibles. Total weight including icon: 251 g.
Dimensions: 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 in. All measurements are approximate.
