RUSSIAN VINTAGE PALEKH LACQUER TRINKET BOX SIGNED
A vintage Russian lacquer trinket box of oval shape. The black box is garnished with golden ornaments on the sides and rims. The lid is hand-painted and depicts a scene from a Russian folk tale with the heroes wedding feast. Presumably an illustration for Koniok-Gorbunok. Signed Palekh, 1990, Kornilov D.D. on the bottom of the picture. Signed Made in the USSR on the bottom. The inside is painted red. Palekh is one of the largest centers of Russian lacquer art.
