RUSSIAN SILVER LOCAL TROOPS ANNIVERSARY BADGE
A Russian silver military decoration, anniversary badge made for military commanders of the Local Troops. Approved in 1911 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Troops. Silver wreath of laurel and oak branches with a crowned double-headed eagle in the center. On the chest of the eagle is a shield with the Russian coat of arms, and on the wings are the cyphers of the Emperors Alexander I and Nicholas II. At the bottom, the wreath is tied with a ribbon with letters MV, Mestnye Voyska. Jubilee dates 1811-1911 on the sides of the eagle are partly missing. In 1811, by decree of Alexander I, a special branch of the army was formed, titled the Internal Guard. In addition to the functions of the police, the internal troops also carried out rescue work during fires and floods.
