GERMAN WOOD ENGRAVING BY ALBERT KRUGER AFTER BOCKLIN
Albert Kruger, German, 1858 to 1910, chiaroscuro wood engraving printed in black and blue on wove paper, Arnold Bocklins self portrait with Death. Circa: 1899. Signed with initials, lower to the center. Arnold Bocklin, 1827 to 1901, was a Swiss Symbolist painter. Albert Kruger was a printmaker, especially etchings, and designer of woodcuts, worked in Berlin. Specialised in colour woodcut reproductions after Old Master and contemporary paintings.
