ATTR TO NAMIKAWA RARE JAPANESE CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASES
Attributed to Namikawa Yasuyuki, 1845 to 1927, a pair of rare identical antique Japanese, late Meiji era, enamel vases. Each vase has an urn shaped body and a wide fluted neck. The bodies of the vases are adorned with polychrome images of butterflies made in the Cloisonne technique. The necks feature Phoenix bird, floral, and foliage patterns made in the same technique. The bases are decorated with foliage and geometrical ornaments made in the same technique. The ground of each vase is inlaid with a Goldstone. Unmarked. Namikawa Yasuyuki was among the most celebrated Japanese enamelers of the Meiji period, together with Namikawa Sosuke they became the most famous cloisonne artists of the 1890 to 1910 period, a time known as the Golden Age of Japanese enamels. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. Antique and Vintage Asian and Oriental Enamel Vases, Table Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
