An antique late 19th century rare Russian lacquered hand painted trinket box with a hinged lid. Black body, silver interior. The lid depicts a scene of Russian village life. Traces of stamps on the inner side of the lid, Vishnyakov manufacture in Zhostovo. Zhostovo is a village in the Moscow area, a well known center of lacquer miniature art and painting on metal.
