FRENCH STILL LIFE GICLEE PRINT AFTER CLAUDE MONET
A vintage giclee print on canvas depicting a still life with fruits after the original oil painting, Grapes and Vines, by Claude Monet, French, 1840 to 1926. Signed in print, upper left. Marked verso: Edizioni Beatrice dEste Milano. Framed. Printed in Italy circa 1980s. Provenance: from the private family collection in Montreal, Canada. Claude Monet was a French painter and founder of impressionist painting who is seen as a key precursor to modernism, especially in his attempts to paint nature as he perceived it. During his long career, he was the most consistent and prolific practitioner of impressionism's philosophy of expressing ones perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein air outdoor landscape painting.
