Bidspirit auction | Three Mid-20th Century Kundo and
Three Mid-20th Century Kundo and Schatz Brass and Ceramic Anniversary Clocks - A collection of three German mechanical torsion pendulum mantel clocks, colloquially known as anniversary or 400-day clocks, each presented under a clear glass dome. The lot includes two examples by Kundo and one 8-day clock by Schatz. The first Kundo clock features a silvered dial with black Roman numerals and fleur-de-lis markers, supported by twin brass-toned cylindrical pillars topped with finials. The second Kundo timepiece displays a minimalist cream-coloured dial with gold-toned Arabic numerals at the cardinal points and baton markers, supported by a similar brass-toned frame. The Schatz clock features a white dial with Arabic numerals and floral rose transfers, surmounted by a decorative pierced scroll-work pediment. This movement is supported by curved brass legs on a cream-coloured ceramic base featuring matching floral rose decorations. The dials are clearly printed with the makers' names Kundo and Schatz respectively, and each is marked MADE IN GERMANY at the base of the dial. The Schatz dial is further marked 8 DAY below the centre arbor. No other maker marks or signatures are visible to the movements or bases.
