Bidspirit auction | Two Natural Hide Rugs

Two Natural Hide Rugs - Two contemporary natural hide rugs, comprising one longhair goatskin and one shorthair cowhide example. The first rug is a large, short-pile hide featuring a deep chocolate brown base with contrasting cream-coloured patches to the perimeter and interior. This rug is notable for its long, thick hair texture compared to standard hides. The second rug is a shorthair goat hide in a rich ginger-brown colour with white blotches and a prominent dark dorsal stripe running centrally. Both specimens have been professionally tanned, resulting in a supple white leather flesh side that remains flexible. The rugs retain their natural irregular animal contours, with variation in shape and size characteristic of the material. No maker's marks, tanner's stamps, or country of origin labels are visible on the hair or leather surfaces of either piece.
