William IV Mahogany Side Chair - A William IV mahogany side chair, circa 1830, with a rich patina. The backrest is designed with a broad, curved bar top rail featuring an elaborately carved central fan-shaped cresting flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves. A shaped mid-rail is also present, decorated with corresponding foliate and scroll carvings. The chair is supported on front legs that are turned and fluted, tapering down to ring-turned detailing and small feet, while the rear legs are of an out-swept saber form. The fixed seat is upholstered in a modern light cream-coloured linen fabric, finished with a decorative braided trim around the base. No maker's marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the mahogany frame.
