Mid-20th Century Royal Belvedere Vienna Ceramic Doe and Fawn Group - A mid-20th-century Austrian ceramic group by Royal Belvedere, Vienna. The naturalistically modelled piece depicts a recumbent doe with a fawn nestled closely against her side. The figures are finished in a high-gloss mottled brown and tan glaze, featuring white slip-decorated spots to the fawn's back and white detailing to the undersides of the tails. The eyes, hooves, and noses are accented with black glaze. The base bears a printed black factory mark consisting of a stylized graphic emblem above the words ROYAL BELVEDERE VIENNA and is further marked MADE IN AUSTRIA. An impressed model number 5266 is also visible on the underside. The base is constructed with two circular firing apertures, one of which retains a cork stopper.
