Bidspirit auction | Edwardian Sterling Silver and Cut

Edwardian Sterling Silver and Cut Lead Crystal Decanter - An Edwardian cut lead crystal decanter of bulbous form, featuring a hallmarked sterling silver collar. The vessel is decorated with a complex array of deep hand-cutting, including a diamond lattice pattern to the neck above a body featuring multi-point sunburst stars, stylized feather motifs, and cross-hatched panels. The base is finished with a large, deeply cut 24-point radial starburst. The silver collar is shaped with an articulated wavy rim and a pouring spout. The collar bears four horizontal rectangular punches: a maker's mark 'J.B' (not legible as a full name), a lion passant indicating sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase 'e' in a shield-shaped cartouche dating the silver to 1904. The decanter is complete with its original matching glass stopper, which features diamond-cut facets and a pointed finial. No etched maker's marks are visible on the glass.
