Antique English Stitched Leather Leg-of-Mutton Shotgun Case - An antique English leg-of-mutton gun case, constructed from heavy-gauge dark brown leather with reinforced stitched seams. The case is designed for a take-down shotgun, featuring a tapered form and an interior divided by leather partitions to accommodate a stock and barrels separately. The opening is fitted with a circular brass lock plate and a secondary leather strap with a brass buckle closure. A sturdy leather carrying handle is attached to the side with brass rings. The exterior is embossed with the owner's name in capital letters, reading CAPTAIN E. ENGLAND. The case shows evidence of extensive field use and age, with a naturally patinated and desiccated surface. No maker's marks or manufacturer labels are visible on the leather or brass hardware.
