After S. J. Lamorna Birch 'Lancaster from the Aqueduct' Print - A tonalist landscape study after Samuel John Lamorna Birch (British, 1869-1955)  The composition depicts a wide, panoramic view of Lancaster, identifiable by the distinctive silhouettes of the castle and the square tower of the Priory Church on the horizon. A stone bridge with multiple arches, likely the Skerton Bridge or the Lune Aqueduct, spans the river in the middle ground, while a small herd of cattle grazes on the marshy foreground near a reflective pool of water. The work is rendered in a muted palette of ochres, greys, and earthy browns, characteristic of Birch's atmospheric landscape style. Signed 'S. J. Lamorna Birch' in fluid cursive script in the lower left corner. The work is presented behind glass in a moulded wooden frame with a prominent natural grain. No other inscriptions, dates, or maker marks are visible on the front of the work.
