Bidspirit auction | Classical Style Terracotta Satyr Wall

Classical Style Terracotta Satyr Wall Mask - A decorative terracotta wall mask depicting a satyr or theatrical character inspired by classical antiquity. The hollow-cast ceramic sculpture features a highly expressive, grinning face with a wide-open mouth, prominent bushy beard, and furrowed brow. The head is adorned with a relief wreath of vine leaves and budding horns or grape clusters at the temples. The piece is finished in a uniform, reddish-brown slip, giving the clay a patinated appearance. The reverse reveals a rough, hand-finished interior with two circular piercings through which a heavy-gauge oxidised wire hanger is threaded for wall mounting. No maker's marks, signatures, or inscriptions are visible on the front or the reverse of the piece.
