Early 20th Century Hand-Painted Bird Motif Glazed Earthenware Vase - An early 20th-century glazed earthenware vase of baluster form, featuring a flared rim and slightly tapered base. The body is finished in a mottled deep blue glaze. The front is decorated with a hand-painted depiction of a bird, possibly a robin, perched within green foliage. The decoration is applied in a thick impasto technique, creating a textured and slightly raised surface profile. The lower front side of the body features a small painted mark in white, appearing as two characters. The underside of the base is finished in a dark green-black glaze and bears incised characters including the numbers 152 and 140. To the right of these numbers is an incised stylized device resembling a floral or insect-like symbol, though the specific maker associated with this mark is not stated. The interior of the neck shows an uneven application of the blue glaze, revealing the cream-coloured ceramic body beneath.
