Two Victorian and Edwardian Stained Wood Side Chairs Including Balloon Back Example - A mismatched pair of antique wooden side chairs representing Victorian and Edwardian furniture styles. The first is a Victorian-style balloon back side chair, likely mid-to-late 19th-century, featuring a curved upper rail with rounded shoulders over a horizontal central splat. It is constructed with turned front legs featuring ring detailing, flared rear legs, and H-form stretchers. The drop-in seat is upholstered in a cream-coloured needlepoint tapestry depicting a central floral bouquet in shades of blue, pink, and green. The second is an Edwardian-style bedroom or side chair, early 20th-century, crafted from a dark-stained wood. It features light-coloured wood stringing inlay along the upright stiles, horizontal back rails, and square-tapered front legs. The chair is fitted with a woven cane seat and supported by H-form stretchers. No maker's marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the frames of either chair.
