Arts and Crafts-style Copper and Brass Log Chest - A hearthside log or coal chest in the Arts and Crafts-style. The box is constructed from heavy-gauge copper-clad panels over a dark-stained wooden plank frame. The exterior is embellished with decorative brass strapping secured by large domed rivets, featuring hand-hammered repousse detailing along the edges. The hinged lid is fitted with two ornate cast-metal strap hinges and opens to reveal a wooden interior with a tinned or galvanized metal lining to the underside of the lid. The chest is equipped with substantial cast-brass swing handles to either side and is decorated to the front face with a cast-metal fleur-de-lis emblem. No maker's marks, hallmarks, or signatures are visible on the metalwork or the wooden frame.
