Bidspirit auction | Four Italian Neoclassical-Style Gilt Brass

Four Italian Neoclassical-Style Gilt Brass Figural and Scrolling Wall Sconces - A set of four wall-mounted candle sconces in the Italian Neoclassical style, comprising two distinct pairs. The first pair features a highly dynamic figural design, with each sconce depicting a cast putto or cherub leaning forward from a rectangular backplate. The cherubs hold aloft stylized circular nozzles with foliate-edged drip pans. The heavy cast backplates are decorated with embossed floral rosettes and beaded borders. The second pair consists of more traditional scrolling arm sconces, featuring backplates decorated with fleur-de-lis and scrolling motifs. These arms are constructed with multi-knop turned stems terminating in broad, flat drip pans and cast foliate candle nozzles. All pieces are crafted from gilt brass or bronze and remain in their original non-electrified state. No maker's marks, signatures, or country-of-origin stamps are visible on the front or reverse surfaces of the pieces.
