Ca. AD 1100 - 1200.A pottery jug showcases a harmonious blend of form and decoration. Crafted from clay, this jug boasts a bulbous body that rests upon a low ring foot, evoking a sense of stability and visual balance. Rising from the body, a graceful funnel-shaped neck adorns the vessel, its smooth surface providing a striking contrast to the densely decorated main body. The main body of the jug is adorned with a series of decorative cartouches set against a background of meticulously crafted dotted patterns. These cartouches, bearing intricate motifs and designs, serve as focal points, drawing the viewer's attention. Above the cartouches, relief ribs encircle the shoulder of the jug, adding textural depth and enhancing its aesthetic appeal. To facilitate handling and pouring, the jug features a well-crafted strap handle positioned to the side. The handle, ergonomically designed and seamlessly integrated into the overall composition, not only enhances the jug's functionality but also serves as an element of visual interest. The Seljuk Empire, known for its remarkable cultural achievements, spanned a significant period from the 11th to the 13th century, leaving an indelible mark on the art and history of the region.
