SAFAVID PROCESSIONAL STANDARD
Ca. AD 1600 - 1700A Safavid processional standard composed of the main openwork decoration in bronze and a frame in brass. This ‘alam' (processional standard) rises from a tubular brass shaft with a floral lattice through a slightly tapering almond element with inscribed medallions. There are two depictions of stylised dragons’ heads fixed along the edges. The openwork decoration is framed in two long and curved horns.
