BACTRIAN CHLORITE COSMETIC PALETTE
Ca. 3000 - 2000 BC A Bactrian chlorite cosmetic palette made from a lightweight stone, possibly anthracite. Rectangular in shape with a recessed centre containing a hollow middle, the walls and all four sides are decorated with geometric motifs. For similar see: Sandro Salvatori's Early Bactrian Objects in Private Collection (1988), n. 85. Size: 40mm x 90mm; Weight: 410g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / International art markets.
