BACTRIAN STONE COSMETIC PALETTE WITH GEOMETRICAL DECORATION
Ca. 3000 - 2000 BC A Bactrian cosmetic palette made from a lightweight stone, possibly anthracite. Rectangular in shape with a recessed centre containing a hollow middle. The walls and all four sides are decorated with geometric motifs. For similar see: Sandro Salvatori's Early Bactrian Objects in Private Collection (1988), n. 85. Size: 35mm x 70mm; Weight: 285g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / International art markets.
